“Gender, Rural Equality, and Tourism” (GREAT) project is a three-year initiative (2021 – 2023 extended in 2024) co-implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development with the financial support of the Italian Governme(https://bujqesia.gov.al/prezantohet-projekti-great-ministrja-ekonomi-prioriteti-yne-fuqizimi-ekonomik-i-gruas-ne-bujqesi/). The main goal of the project is to contribute to rural women’s empowerment in Albania and to facilitate as well as to strengthen women’s roles and contribution to rural development in the context of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable Development and its core principle of leaving no-one behind. The project activities are primarily implemented in Elbasan and Kolonja (Leskovik) municipalities. They intend to contribute to sustainable economic development of rural women through their involvement in agribusiness incubators. This, in turn, will ensure sustainable production processes that highlight their roles and potential as farmers, processors, and managers while fostering a cycle of inclusion.
